National Apprenticeship Week is back again, paying homage to the fantastic burgeoning talent around Britain. Now in its 15th year, the week seeks to promote the commercial and personal benefits of apprenticeships.

To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week 2022, we took some time out to speak with our wonderful Apprentices, Evie Garcia and Joseph McCorry to learn what they love about completing an apprenticeship with Golden Frog:

Why did you choose to do your apprenticeship with Golden Frog?

E: Looked a great small company to work for and as it offers a wide range of marketing services, there is a lot I can learn.

J: I came out of college wanting something different from my IT course and wanted to take a step into Marketing, this is where I found Golden Frog. Golden Frog was the perfect choice for me, although small in size Golden Frog packs a punch that instantly struck me as a highly ambitious team of people that I wanted to be a part of.

What type of apprenticeship are you doing?

E: Marketing Assistant Apprenticeship

J: Digital Marketing Apprenticeship

What is the best part about being an apprentice at Golden Frog?

E: I love the variety that there is working at Golden Frog, no day is the same whether it’s visiting clients, creating social posts/plans or writing blogs there is loads to learn.

J: Being an outgoing person, I relished in the idea of meeting with clients and learning from my peers. Getting to know to the clients has benefited me greatly as I have better understanding of marketing strategy and long-term planning.

Day to day what are some of the tasks within your role?

E: Some of the tasks that I could be doing include creating social plans, creating graphics, social media reports and speaking to clients.

J: My everyday tasks change continuously, I would go from creating in-depth monthly social media plans, editing websites for clients to meeting the clients directly to come up with plans and strategies to help grow their online presence.

Have you learnt many new skills during your time so far?

E: I have learnt lots of new skills such as how to create reports, how to use certain content management systems, writing blogs, and much more!

J: Monitoring success of our marketing campaigns for our clients has helped me develop analytic skills. With the continuous use and learning of website editing I have come to grips with the ins and outs of the backend of a website, I want to further improve these skills as I continue my apprenticeship.

Would you recommend taking on apprentices to other businesses?

E: Definitely, apprentices could bring new ideas and skills to your business, as the courses that are available to them are constantly updating and teaches certain skills that could be valuable to the business.

J: Taking on an apprentice gives the company an opportunity to teach and gain young talent. Apprentices can be moulded into a crucial member of the team that can become a great asset to the company with time and commitment.

What did you do before your apprenticeship?

E: I worked at Hemingways as HR administrator then gift packing operative.

J: I was learning at York College doing a level 3 course in Information Technology, while also working for a Removals Company.

What would you say to others tempted by an apprenticeship role?

E: Go for it – it’s a great opportunity to learn new skills and experience on the job.

J: An apprenticeship is a great way to earn while you learn. Perfect for people wanting to gain first-hand experience in a workplace environment while also learning skills in their chosen trade.
